|| Matthew 9:18-26; Luke 8:40-56
MK5:21 Now when Jesus crossed the sea to the other side, a large crowd of people gathered around him near the shore. MK5:22 But, look, one of the leaders of the synagogue, Jairus by name, approached and when he saw Jesus he bowed at his feet. MK5:23 Jairus began earnestly begging him: “My little daughter lies near death! I beg you, come and lay your hands upon her that she may be healed, and then she will live!” MK5:24 So Jesus left with him and a large crowd of people thronged after him.
 Leaders of the synagogue: Or, synagogue chiefs, rulers. The Greek is one word, ARCHI-SYNAGOGON [ruler + synagogue]. It refers to president or presiding officer [elder] of the synagogue. The Christian congregations would have something similar.
