Death of Christ and Silent or Black Saturday #1 Abandonment and burial

We have come to the point where the people in Jerusalem had seen that the man of flesh and blood, Jeshua ben Josef, also known as the son of man and son of God, came to his death at the wood of execution.

When Jesus walked around preaching about his heavenly Father and times to come, many wondered who he was and what gave him the authority to speak about the prophets and God. Several people found it weird that this Nazarene could do such strange things, like making blind see again, and paralysed people walk again. Jesus never claimed that it was by his power that he did such wondrous works.  It annoyed many that he claimed he was doing those miracles by the power of God. How could a man claim to do something by God’s Power or even claim that he could unveil things because “his father in heaven” allowed it?
His claims to come from God and to do works God gave him to do, made many angry and gave reason for them to kill him.

“Everything has been given me by my Father. No one perfectly knows the Son but the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father perfectly but the Son; and whom ever the Son wishes to unveil Him.” (Mt 11:27 mhm)

“Upon approaching Jesus he said to them, “All authority in heaven and upon earth was given to me.” (Mt 28:18 mhm)

“17  However, Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working to the present, and I continue to work.”18 Therefore, because of this, the Jews were seeking for a way to kill Jesus because they thought he not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also he was saying The God was his own Father, making himself equal to The God. 19 Therefore, Jesus answered them:

“I tell you this truth: The Son is unable to do anything from himself unless he sees something the Father is doing. For whatever that One may do, it is possible the Son also may do likewise.20 For the Father has affection for the Son and He is showing the Son what He is doing. And He will show the Son even greater works so that you may struck with awe.21 For just as the Father raises the dead and makes them alive, so also the Son makes alive those he wishes.22 Because the Father judges no one, but all the judgment He has given to the Son,23 so that everyone may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. The person not honoring the Son is not honoring the Father who sent him.24 I tell you this truth: The person who listens to my word and continues to believe in the One who sent me possesses endless Life. And so that person does not come into condemnation, but has crossed over from the Death unto the Life.

25 “I tell you this truth: The hour is coming, and is now present, when the dead will listen to the voice of the Son of The God, and those who have responded will live.26 For just as the Father has Life within Himself, so also He gave to the Son to have Life within himself.27 Also, the Father has given to the Son to perform judgment because he is the Son of Humankind.28 Do not wonder about this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear the Son’s voice29 and those having done good things will come out unto a resurrection of Life. Those who have habitually done corrupt things unto a resurrection of condemnation.30 I am not able to do anything from myself. Just as I hear I judge, and my judgment is just because I am not seeking my own will, but the will of the One who sent me.

31  “If I ever testify about myself my testimony is true.32 There is someone else who testifies about me and I know that his testimony about me is true.33 You Jews sent representatives to approach John, and he has testified regarding the truth.34 However I do not accept human testimony, but these things I tell you are so that all of you might be saved.35 John was the burning and illuminating lamp, and all of you wished to rejoice facing toward the light in him for an hour.36 But, I possess a testimony greater than John, for the works the Father has given to me so that I might complete them–these works that I am doing–testify that the Father has sent me forth. (Joh 5:17-36 mhm)

“27 Peace I leave you. I give you apostles my own peace. I am not giving it to you as the world of humankind gives it. Do not let your hearts be troubled nor cowardly.28  You apostles heard that I said to you, ‘I am departing and I am returning to you apostles.’ If you loved me you would certainly rejoice, because I am going toward the Father, because the Father is greater than me.29 And now I have told you apostles before it happens, so that whenever it does happen you should believe.30 I shall not speak with you much longer, for the ruler of the world of humankind is coming, and yet he has nothing on me.31 But, so that the world of humankind may realize that I continue to love the Father, and just as He gave me a commandment, just so I am doing. Rouse yourselves, and let us continue from here.” (Joh 14:27-31 mhm)

Jesus was taken and judged to be killed. He was brought to Golgotha to be impaled as a murderer or a dangerous criminal. When he was hanging there at the torture stake, people mocked with him and asked him, when he would have connections with God, to come from the stake and to save himself.

“and calling out, “The person who said ‘tear the Temple down and in three days’ –save yourself! If you are a son of The God come down from the stake.”” (Mt 27:40 mhm)

“Now it was nine in the morning when they impaled Jesus.” (Mr 15:25 mhm)

“Now let Christ the King of Israel come down now from the stake so that we may all believe!”” (Mr 15:32 mhm)

“Observe carefully the Arch- Leader and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus–who endured execution because of the Joy that lay before him–disdained the humiliation of the stake. He has sat down on the right hand of the Throne of The God.” (Heb 12:2 mhm)

Several people saw in Jesus a con-man or imposter. Also today there are lots of people who do not want to believe who Jesus really was or is. There are also a lot of people who minimalise the deed Jesus did, giving his won life to do the Will of God instead of doing his own will. They say Jesus is God, but in such case, Jesus would always have done the will of himself, though in the olive garden he prayed to God with the words:

““Father, if you wish remove this cup from me. However, let Your will occur and not my own will.”” (Lu 22:42 mhm)

Jesus one moment at the stake thought to have been abandoned by his heavenly Father. It also looked like some of his close friends had abandoned him, like Peter not daring to say he was with Christ. It looked like nobody wanted to come to his defence when he was on trial. At the stake, Jesus called to his heavenly Father, making it clear he is not that person like so many so-called Christians claim.

“About three in the afternoon Jesus screamed in a loud voice, “Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?” (or, “‘My God, my God, why have You abandoned me?’”)” (Mt 27:46 mhm)

“And at three in the afternoon Jesus screamed in a loud voice: “Eloi eloi lama sabakhthani?” (which means when translated: “‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’”)” (Mr 15:34 mhm)

God cannot die, so if Jesus would have been God, he clearly would been an imposter, faking that he died at that wooden pole on Golgotha. Not being God, Jesus got wounded by the nails through his hands and feet and by the spear in his body.

When Jesus for a second time called on his Father, he gave up the spirit, which means that he died.

“Now after Jesus again cried out with a loud voice he gave up the pneuma.” (Mt 27:50 mhm)

“Now Jesus screamed in a loud voice and breathed his last.” (Mr 15:37 mhm)

“Then Jesus cried out in a loud voice: “Father, into your hands I entrust my spirit!” And having said this, Jesus expired.” (Lu 23:46 mhm)

We can read in the gospel of John that when Jesus had received the sour wine, he considered his work here on earth finished.

“Therefore, when he had received the vinegar, Jesus said, “It has been accomplished!” And then his head fell and his last breath escaped.” (Joh 19:30 mhm)

Jesus was placed on this earth in a special way for a certain task and now his task had come to an end. When going around Galilee he had tried to show people that he is the way to God (and not to himself, what he would have done if he would be God).

“Jesus said to Thomas: “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one can approach the Father, if not through me.” (Joh 14:6 mhm)

He who wanted to show his Father, Jehovah God, was now dead, not belonging to living anymore, and got put in a grave.

“He placed the body in a new memorium which he had quarried out of the rock. He then rolled a great stone at the opening to the memorium and departed.” (Mt 27:60 mhm)

“These went their way and secured the grave, sealing the stone with the custodial guards.” (Mt 27:66 mhm)

Jesus was put in a grave in a garden near the place where he was impaled. Normaly This tomb Joseph from Arimathea as a rich man had provided and prepared that sepulchre for himself, as was not uncommon among the Jews. In this tomb Luke and John inform us that no man had been laid.  It was a clean, uncontaminated unused or immaculate tomb. In the providence of God, it was foreseen that Jesus would be put between the rich.

“He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.” (Isa 53:9 NIV)

None of the people who knew Christ and had seen him from close by, could find any wickedness in him. He always had spoken with a soft voice, except when he was cross with the sellers in the temple and when he threw them out of that holy place.
His disciples also were convinced that Jesus had not committed any sin, and that no deceit could be found on his lips, him always telling the truth and defending the poor and those who could not speak.

“Messiah never committed a sin, nor was deceit ever found in his mouth.” (1Pe 2:22 mhm)

The fulfilment of the prophecy that Jesus would make his grave with the rich in his death is the more remarkable, because during his life he associated with the poor, and was himself poor.

That the tombs or sepulchres in Judea were commonly caves, hewn out in the rock in groves, and mountains was a common way of constructing places to bury the dead. Those burial chambers were cut horizontally in the rock beyond the walls of the cities in which they dwelt, or were excavations made in the sides of hills, or sometimes in solid rocks and were sometimes of great extent. The bodies were laid in niches in the walls or on flat slabs. After the first had been laid in the grave, a large heavy stone was rolled in front of the entrance.

Joseph with the help of some of Jesus’ followers laid the dead Jesus in his new family grave, i.e., not yet used. Because Jesus had been condemned as a criminal the law forbade the owner of a grave to use it again, and therefore we know Joseph sacrificed his own tomb to give Jesus an honourable grave.

Had Jesus been buried in the common burial-ground of the malefactors, his resurrection could not have been so distinctly remarked, as the chief priests would never have thought of sealing the stone there, or setting a watch; but now that the body is got into the hands of a friend, they judged it necessary to make use of these precautions, in order, as they said, to prevent imposture; and from this very circumstance the resurrection of Christ had its fullest evidence, and was put beyond the power of successful contradiction.

“62 Now on the morrow, which is the day after the Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered together unto Pilate, 63 saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said while he was yet alive, After three days I rise again. 64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest haply his disciples come and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: and the last error will be worse than the first. 65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a guard: go, make it as sure as ye can. 66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, the guard being with them.” (Mt 27:62-66 ASV)

The sealing of the stone and putting official guards in front of it, was intended to secure the place as much as possible, so that nobody could take the body away to declare afterwards that he would have been risen or taken up to heaven.

Over zulke valse leraren zei Jezus:

Gates to different belief systems in this world

A housewife with four grown children and grandchildren looks at her blog at the many different systems of belief. She also knows that

Everybody knows  that there are people  in this world  whose word  simply cannot be trusted.     They might have attained the status  of top leadership  in the country,  they might be very wealthy,  they might be considered very intellectual,  they might be spiritual leaders — whatever the case may be,  it is noted,  often by their deeds,  that their word should not be trusted. {The Sum Of Thy Word Is Truth}

Everyday we are confronted with a lot of words, news-gatherings etc.. these days it is even fashion to have several people trying to manipulate others and spreading false accusations or what a certain American person would call real news whilst naming the other and real facts ‘fake news’.

Some people use their words  to gain political power over others;  some use words to illegally gain wealth;  some use words  to intimidate others  with their supposed  “knowledge”;  and there are false spiritual leaders,  who desire to rule  over others spiritually  with their words. {The Sum Of Thy Word Is Truth}

These days many people, certainly here in West Europe and in the Middle East can feel the damage which is caused by those who trap in the mousetrap of some of those false teachers who do more damage to the faith they are so called defending, than doing good to it are creating reasons for non-believers to come to believe in Allah/God or to get them converted to real Islam.

With the Internet,  TV,  radio,  books,  newspapers,  etc.,  each belief system  is trying to spread what they claim  is the absolute truth.     What in the world  should we believe  — if anything? {The Sum Of Thy Word Is Truth}

asks the American mother, adding

Most belief systems can almost be seen as  “agreeing”  quite a bit  on what is  “good”  behavior.     So, does it matter which one we  “prefer”?     Many will say it does not matter  what you believe,  just so long  as you are sincere  and  “try”  to be good. {The Sum Of Thy Word Is Truth}

Several Christians will say that all people are saved now and that we do not have to do any works any more (And looking at some of this mother her writings we get the impression she thinks too.). They are either mislead by their leaders or just are not very well accustomed with the Words of the Bible (The Words of God). Those not knowing their Holy Scriptures, be it the Hebrew Bible, the Messianic Scriptures or Greek Bible or the Quran are an easy pray for false teachers and for faith groups which prefer their own dogmatic teachings instead of keeping to the Set-apart or Holy Scriptures.

The mother who wants her web site to just glorify God and the salvation He offers to all of us, does not want to debate anyone’s doctrinal beliefs or holding discussions on various subjects. Her web site just wants to give some quiet time to consider various verses in God’s word.

Writing

There are so many different belief systems in this world. It should be obvious that it matters which is the right way to go. Out of all beliefs, only the Bible has shown itself to be true through all the fulfilled prophecies written there. {The Narrow Gate}

she must come to recognise that we can not avoid talking about the doctrinal issues because

even within those claiming to accept the Bible’s teachings, not all will reach their goal of heaven. How can that be? {The Narrow Gate}

She too must know that not all those denominations are teaching “teachings from God Almighty” and has to see that even in Christian denominations there are those who totally ignore that history proves they are presenting not only teachings from sinful men but that many of them even do not live according to what they preach.

Many people are afraid of their neighbours and afraid of the traditions of the world. They want to “fit in with the rest of the crowd”.

They’re afraid of what their neighbours, family, and friends might say about them. And, you know what? Everybody’s afraid. We all want to “fit in”. {Far Away Hearts}

It is fine to see that the mother has seen what happened in history and that

Going back to Jesus’ statement in Matthew 15:7-9,  we need to realize that the church from 1500 years, or more, ago,  accepted these traditions of men, only because they wanted more heathens to join the church.    The church leaders were so intent upon adding numbers to their church enrollment,  that they condoned heathen influences,  in order to draw heathens into the church.

Those ungodly decisions have influenced us to this day.    So,  we don’t have to feel alone in our dilemma of dealing with the fears and superstitions we influence our children with.    This sort of stuff has been going on since the beginning of time.

That is why Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:12,

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,  but against the rulers,  against the powers,  against the world forces of this darkness,  against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore,  take up the full armor of God,  that you may be able to resist the evil day,  and having done everything,  to stand firm.” {Far Away Hearts}

Looking at the world today, not much has changed between people. They still have many arguments with each other. They still fight against each other. But concerning faith and doing the works of faith we do see that these days there is less and less interest in the Divine Creator.

It is a pity the mother herself is taken into the trap of those who did agree with the Roman emperor to make Jeshua into the equal or similar person as Zeus, changing his name to Issou (Iessous/Ishi/Jesus) or ‘Hail Zeus” and making him into a three-godhead. She thinks Jesus to be God, though she says herself:

That very narrow gate”  “that leads  to life”  is a simple faith  in Jesus only  as our Lord and Savior.     We can’t add anything to that  —  or take anything away  from that. {The Narrow Gate}

We only can hope she shall come to see that she, like you and us shall have to come to believe in Jeshua, Jesus Christ, to be the only begotten son of God, the son of man, who is the sent one from God who got authorised to handle and to speak in the name of God and who was taken in the heavens to be seated next to God and not to replace God, and to be a mediator between God and man.

That belief in Christ is an essential part of salvation, too many forget. Lots of Christians do not come to see how important that is. Lots of Christians also do not recognise the grand effort Jesus had to do to bring salvation to mankind. They ignore that Jesus did not do his will but the Will of God. (Namely when Jesus is God, like they say, Jesus would always have done his own will.) They also seem to forget that Jesus gave his life and really died. Man can do God nothing and God can not die, but Jesus really did.

It is by ignoring the biblical facts that people exclude themselves from those who Jesus meant to be followers of him and to be the real lovers of God and not of the world.

Strangely enough the mother herself acknowledges

Jesus is pointedly showing us  that it is only faith  in Him  “that leads  to life”.     If we add  or subtract  from that simple truth,  we are widening  the “gate”  —  leading ourselves  and others  “to destruction”.      When describing the “narrow”“small” gate,   Jesus realized  that there would only be “few  who find it”.

We can only hope many more shall find the right road. it is even the task of believers in Christ to show others the Way (which is Jesus) to God. It are those believers in Christ and believers in God who have to show that

God’s word is the only “belief system” (if you will)  {The Sum Of Thy Word Is Truth}

It is in the Word of God, the infallible Word provided by the Most High, namely the Bible (i.e. Old and New Testament) that we should go searching for the Truth, in the knowledge that That Word of God – The bible is the only Source of the Full Truth.

The Acts Of The Sent Ones Chapter 1

The Acts Of The Sent Ones = Maaseh Shlichim – Chapter 1

A historical book used to record the transition between the Jewish dispensation and the ‘New Yisrael’ church.

1 The first scroll have I made, O Theophilos, {1 Luke 1:3} of all that יהושע {Yahshua/ Yeshua/Jeshua (Jesus)} began both to do and teach,
2 Until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Ruach Hakodesh had given His Torah to the shlichim whom He had chosen:
3 To whom also He showed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs, being seen by them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the malchut of יהוה {Jehovah}.4 And, as He ate lechem together with them, {2 Aramaic Peshitta.}
He commanded them that they should not depart from Yahrushalayim, but wait for the Promise of Abba, which, He said, you have heard from Me.
5 For Yochanan ha Matbeel truly immersed with mayim;
but you shall be immersed with the Ruach Hakodesh not many days from now.
6 When they therefore had come together, they asked Him, saying, Master, will You at this time restore again the malchut to Yisrael? {3 When there is togetherness in believing Yisrael, the main concern will be the restoration and regathering of the two houses. These folks hardly agreed on anything, but with one accord were concerned that Yahshua was returning to the Father without Efrayim and Judah first being joined again as one in YHWH’s hand. This question set in a future tense, is valid and ample evidence that the restoration was paramount in Yahshua’s ministry, and moreover had never fully taken place previously, at the time of the Jews’ return from Babylonian exile, nor in Hezekiah, or Josiah’s days, as some erroneously claim.}
7 And He said to them, It is not for you to know the times, or the moadim, which Abba has put under His own authority. {4 Yahshua answered them in the future tense in verses 7-8, illustrating that His Father had not yet revealed the exact future timing of the full restoration to anyone. The question posed by the disciples and Messiah’s answer, forever dismisses any attempt to contrive, or fabricate some supposedly well-known, past reunion of the two houses, five hundred years before  Yahshua came in the flesh.
8 But you shall receive power, after the Ruach Hakodesh has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses to Me both in Yahrushalayim, and in all Yahudah, and in Shomron, and to the four corners of the olam. {5 Note the plan for regathering Yisrael clearly outlined. In context, this commission is given in response to the disciples’ question on how to restore Yisrael.  He told them that they could not know when it would be fully accomplished, but He told them the method by which it would come to pass. He sent them out to all Yisrael, both in Judea, in Samaria and the entire world. There is only one Great Commission, not three. In all three areas, lost sheep of Yisrael are to be found.}
9 And when He had spoken these things, while they looked, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked steadfastly toward the shamayim as He went up, see, two men stood by them in
white apparel; {1 In context, one messenger representing both houses that would be coming together by the proclaiming of
the Good News.}
11 Who also said, You men of Galil, why do you stand gazing up into the shamayim? This same יהושע {Yahshua/ Yeshua/Jeshua (Jesus)}, who is taken up from you into the shamayim, shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into the shamayim. {2 Physically, bodily and back to the Mt. of Olives.}
12 Then they returned to Yahrushalayim from the har called Olives, which is from Yahrushalayim a Shabbat day’s journey.
{3 As determined by the Sanhedrin of that day. This concept became part of the Jewish oral law.}
13 And when they came back, they went up into an upper room, where there were staying Kepha, and Yaakov, and Yochanan, and Andri, Philip, and Toma, Bartholomi, and Mattityahu, Yaakov the son of Alphai, and Shimon the Zealot, and Yahudah the brother of Yaakov.
14 These all continued with one accord in the tefillot and supplication, {4 The upper room was the place where the prayer meeting of the leaders of Renewed Covenant Yisrael took place, but was not the place where the Spirit fell. The error of superimposing this prayer venue onto and into the events of chapter 2 has resulted in untold horror, tragedy and error, as seen in the alleged birth of a so-called gentile church.}
with the women, and Miryam the eema of יהושע {Yahshua/Jeshua}, and with His brothers.

15 And in those days Kepha stood up in the midst of the talmidim – the number of names together were about a hundred twenty – and said,
16 Men and Yisraelite brothers, this Katuv had to have been fulfilled, which the Ruach Hakodesh by the mouth of Dawid spoke before concerning Yahudah, who was a guide to them that took
17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this service.
18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling head first, he burst open in the middle, and all his intestines gushed out.
19 And it was known to all the dwellers at Yahrushalayim; so that field is called in their own language, Akel-Dahma, that is to say, The Field of Dahm.
20 For it is written in the Scroll of Tehillim, Let his dwelling be desolate, and let no man dwell in it: and let his office of service be given to another.
21 It is therefore necessary that one of these men who have been with us all the time that the Savior יהושע {Yahshua/ Jeshua} went in and out among us, 22 Beginning from the mikvah of Yochanan ha Matbeel, to the same day that He was taken up from us, one must be ordained to be a witness with us of His resurrection.

23 And they appointed two, Yoseph called Bar-Nava, who was surnamed Justus, and Mattityahu.
24 And they made tefillah, and said, You, Master יהוה{Jehovah} who knows the levim of all men, show which of these two
You have chosen, {5 They prayed and asked simply because there weretwelve disciples from each of the twelve tribes ordained for kingdom rulership, and the one that needed to be chosen was one who was first and foremost faithful and also one who would be from the same tribe that Judas was from. Only YHWH knew that for certain.}

25 That he may take part of this service and calling, from which Yahudah by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. {6 As opposed to a faithful Yisraelite, who is said to be gathered to his people.}
26 And they gave out their lots; and the lot fell upon Mattityahu; and he was numbered with the eleven shlichim.

    You could use Yahshua, but better use Jeshua, with the ‘e’ spoken out as a short ‘ai’ or like in ‘taken’.

    The Bible does not command us to wear a unique prayer shawl or tallit. Instead, it presumes that people wore a garment of some type to cover themselves and instructs them to add fringes (tzitzit) to the 4 corners of these (Numbers 15:38, Deuteronomy 22:12).

    it is the Greek name or title of “Christ” in place of the Hebrew name, “Messiah” that is the very “name of blasphemy” of Revelations 13:1. Therefore, it is the name, Ihsous or Ihseus Christos, which became, in English, Jesus Christ, which was substituted by Greek and Latin Interpreters in place of the true name, Yahshua, The Messiah, that is “the name and number of a man” who is The Anti-Messiah, and the “name of blasphemy” of Rev 13:1!
  • Creator and Blogger God 4 Expounding voice (bijbelvorser.wordpress.com)
    As in the Old Times if individual Jews were to receive Jehovah’s favour and protection, they had to repent and start obeying Him, we too today have to make the right choice and go for Jehovah God. It are we ourselves who have to make up our own mind, like those people in ancient times had also to choose for their false gods or for the One and Only God, Jehovah.
    +
    In order to do God’s will, Jesus his disciples prayed also to Jehovah, like their teacher had showed them how to do: “Grant your slaves to keep speaking your word with all boldness.” What was Jehovah’s immediate response? “The place in which they were gathered together was shaken; and they were one and all filled with the holy spirit and were speaking the word of God with boldness.”

  • Obedience – Gehorsam (ofradix.net)

    When Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, He knew He had just five days to live.  Worst of all, He would be crucified–hung on a cross, dying of asphyxiation as His body sagged and eventually caused his lungs to collapse.
    +
    They had been together for three years and now one of them would lead their Jesus to death.  They couldn’t imagine one of them would do that to their friend.
    +
    Though many today want to believe communion forgives sins and that’s its purpose, I believe that is a misinterpretation of Scripture.  Jesus was reminding the Twelve that a blood sacrifice was required by God for forgiveness of sins, and He would forever be that blood sacrifice.  No one needs communion to be forgiven–no one.  Forgiveness comes simply by sincere repentance and request of God.

    This Bread, this Body of the Man-God, is bruised, torn, and wounded; the Jews nail it to the Wood; so that, it is, in a manner, made one with the Wood, and the Wood is all covered with Jesus’ Blood. This Lamb of God was immolated on the Wood of the Cross: it is by his immolation, that we have had given to us a Sacrifice, which is worthy of God; and it is by this Sacrifice, that we participate in the Bread of Heaven, the Flesh of the Lamb, our true Pasch.

I was surprised to learn it has to do with the washing of the Disciple’s feet. Most scholars think it comes from the first word of the phrase “Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos” meaning “A new commandment I give to you, love one another; as I have loved you” (Jn 13:34), which is why they say Jesus washed the Apostles feet.
  • Walk with Jesus: Purposeful in the midst of turbulence (kzlam36.wordpress.com)
    Walking with Jesus in His last three days journey on earth is not easy as it gets heavier each day. Today we are surrounded by evil and murderous plot from the authorities, betrayals, empty vows and repeated denials from loved ones, armed intimidation, illegal arrest, humiliation, falsehood, greed and unjust conviction of the innocent. But  Jesus remained calm and majestic. He is purposeful.
  • The Last Supper (drcindysimpson.com)
    Sharing meals was a regular part of Jesus’ ministry.  Scripture contains many stories about Jesus eating with His disciples and with sinners, teaching at meals, and teaching through parables that centered on meals/banquets.  Thus it seems only fitting that on the evening before His crucifixion, Jesus shared a meal, the Passover meal, with His disciples.
  • Judas Iscariot’s Betrayal – Holy Wednesday Lenormand Reading (seerpathways.com)
    2,000 years ago on the Wednesday before the Passover Sabbath, Judas Iscariot played a pivotal role in the Redemption drama that forever changed history. He betrayed his Teacher for 30 pieces of silver. Many argue that if God needed Judas Iscariot to betray Jesus, he can’t really be held accountable for his transgression.
  • Today’s Gospel Reading (john 13:21-33; 36-38) (prayers4reparation.wordpress.com)
    While at supper with his disciples, Jesus was troubled in spirit and declared, “I tell you most solemnly, one of you will betray me.”
