Mark 1 – The Nazarene’s Commentary: Mark 1:40-45 – Leper Healed and Then More Isolation

Mark 1:40-45 – Leper Healed and Then More Isolation

|| Matthew 8:2-4[1]

MK1:40 Now a leper came to Jesus begging him on his knees, saying: “If you are willing you can cleanse me.” MK1:41 Moved with pity Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him and then said: “I am willing. Be cleansed.” MK1:42 Instantly the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. MK1:43 Jesus at once sent him away with strict orders, MK1:44 saying: “See that you tell no one, but go and show yourself to the priest, and for your purification present the offerings that Moses appointed as evidence for them.” MK1:45 However, instead the man, after he left, began to tell every one and spread the word aboard, so that it became impossible for Jesus to publicly enter any village. So he remained outside in the open in lonely places and still the people kept coming toward him from every direction.
