But the end of all things has drawn close. Therefore, be sound in mind,+ and be vigilant* with a view to prayers.+ (NWT 1 Peter 4:7)

But the end* of all things has drawn close.+ Be sound in mind,+ therefore, and be vigilant* with a view to prayers.+ (Ref.B 1 Peter 4:7)

the end {Or, “complete end.” Gr., te′los} of all things has drawn close:

(Matthew 24:33): 33 Likewise also YOU, when YOU see all these things, know that he is near at the doors.+)

(James 5:9): Do not heave sighs* against one another, brothers, so that YOU do not get judged.+ Look! The Judge is standing before the doors.+

(Revelation 3:20): 20 Look! I am standing at the door+ and knocking. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,+ I will come into his [house] and take the evening meal with him and he with me.

be sound in mind:

(Romans 12:3): For through the undeserved kindness given to me, I tell everyone there among you not to think more of himself than it is necessary to think,+ but to think so as to have a sound mind, each one as God has given* to him a measure of faith.+

(1 Timothy 3:2): The overseer should therefore be irreprehensible, a husband of one wife, moderate in habits, sound in mind,*+ orderly, hospitable,+ qualified to teach,+
(Titus 2:6): Likewise, keep on urging the younger men to be sound in mind,+
(1 Peter 5:5): In like manner, YOU younger men, be in subjection+ to the older men. But all of YOU gird yourselves with lowliness of mind toward one another,+ because God opposes the haughty ones, but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones.+

be vigilant: Or “alert; awake.”

be vigilant with a view to prayers

(Colossians 4:2): Persevere in prayer,+ remaining awake in it with thanksgiving.+
(Luke 18:1): 18 Then he went on to tell them an illustration about the need for them always to pray and not to give up,+
(Romans 12:12): 12 Rejoice in the hope. Endure under tribulation.+ Persevere in prayer.+
(Ephesians 6:18): 18 while with every form of prayer+ and supplication you carry on prayer on every occasion in spirit.+ And to that end stay awake, constantly making supplication in behalf of all the holy ones.
