Weest waakzaam met het oog op gebeden. — 1 Petr. 4:7.

Misschien vragen we in onze gebeden Jehovah vaak om ons te geven wat we nodig hebben en ons te helpen onze problemen te overwinnen. De „Hoorder van het gebed” luistert liefdevol als we om hulp vragen (Psalm 65:2). Maar we moeten proberen ons ook te richten op andere vormen van gebed, zoals lofprijzingen, dankzeggingen en smekingen. Er zijn veel redenen om lofprijzingen op te nemen in onze gebeden. Zo worden we ertoe bewogen Jehovah te loven als we nadenken over „zijn machtige werken” en „de volheid van zijn grootheid” (Psalm 150:1-6). De zes verzen van Psalm 150 sporen ons dertien keer aan om Jehovah te loven! De componist van een andere psalm zong met diepe eerbied voor Jehovah:

„Zevenmaal per dag heb ik uw lof gezongen om uw rechtvaardige rechterlijke beslissingen” (Psalm 119:164).

Jehovah verdient beslist alle lof. Zouden we hem dan niet „zevenmaal per dag” oftewel heel vaak moeten loven in onze gebeden? w13 15/11 1:1, 3, 4
