Weest waakzaam met het oog op gebeden.  1 Petr. 4:7.

Just like we have first names, God’s first name is Yahweh or Jehovah. The Hebrew word means “I Am” and comes from the verb which means “to be” or “to exist.” As we speak to one another on a first name basis, we should have a desire to be on a first name basis with God.

  • Evangelizing (thepassionists.org)
We Catholics seldom engage in that kind of evangelization. Maybe because we’re convinced it turns people off. People don’t want you to shove your religious beliefs down their throat. Such an approach would do more harm than good. Perhaps even alienate them forever from listening to the Good News. Still, how are people going to hear it unless we preach it? And after all, we just heard Jesus tell us not to hide the light of our faith under a bushel basket!

“The conclusion of the Psalter is this extravagant summons to praise, which seeks to mobilize all creation with a spontaneous and unreserved act of adoration, praise, gratitude, and awe. There are no ‘bases’ given; no reason needs to be given.” [Note: Brueggemann, p. 167.]
